Ladies' 2nd XI v Broxbourne 1
Chelmsford welcomed Broxbourne to Chelmer Park on Saturday and having been on the wrong end of a 4-0 score line earlier in the season they knew it would be a tough fixture.
Chelmsford started strongly and created some early opportunities, one of their short corners was capitalised on with Nicole Hull being first to react to the rebound and slotting the ball home. Broxbourne rallied but were unable to find an opening through the home defensive line marshalled by Marie Kirkham. Chelmsford continued to work the ball around the pitch and extended their lead with a deft deflection by Ally Farrar from a Kat Hales strike. Broxbourne continued to fight and Jenai Chinoy made some great saves between the post for Chelmsford to hold firm till half time.
The second half saw some end to end hockey with both sides creating opportunities, however it was Broxbourne who broke through with a short corner goal mid way through the half. Chelmsford midfield of Bex McGuiness, Georgia Herron and Lou Acton worked hard up and down the pitch containing some lively Broxbourne players. Despite chances falling to both sides there were no further goals and Chelmsford were delighted to come away with the points.
Chelmsford welcome Sudbury to Chelmer Park next Saturday for a 2pm rearranged fixture.
